Free Bible Tables were an idea that Pastor Charlie created while serving in Pittsburgh before he came to Connecticut. While serving at Trinity Cathedral in downtown Pittsburgh, Pastor Charlie noticed a large number of visitors passing through the Cathedral on a regular basis. At the same time, there were several churches across the city that were closing, and much of their content (including Bibles) was going to sit around or be put in storage. Why not give them away for free to those who are seeking solace and wisdom and salvation in God's Word?  And so, the Free Bible Table was born. 

Upon moving to Connecticut and seeing all the Free Little Library Boxes on the shoreline, Pastor Charlie wondered, why not have a little box in front of the church with free Bibles? He mentioned it to Julie Peace, the Vestry clerk and longtime parishioner, who informed him that her husband was fond of building little wooden birdhouses, and perhaps a Bible Box wouldn't be that much different to create. So, Bill Peace took this project and ran with it, creating the Free Bible Box to look as much like Grace Church as possible. It even has roof shingles, a see-through door to keep the Bibles dry, and a miniature bell tower to reflect the architecture of Grace Church.

Since 2018, Grace Church has given away over 500 donated and purchased Bibles of all sorts, including Spanish and English versions, study Bibles and children's Bibles, in various translations, from NRSV to King James.
