COME AND GARDEN

Gardeners are always welcome in the Common Good Gardens, located behind Grace Episcopal Church on Main Street in Old Saybrook.  If you enjoy the outdoors then you will appreciate the abundance of flora and fauna here.   Come join us.

The Common Good Gardens are located beyond the church's playground, which is directly in back of the church.

Our garden grows vegetables for the Shoreline Soup Kitchen & Pantries (SSKP), one of our mission partners, which distributes groceries to neighbors in need.

Residents from all communities in the Valley Shore area work in the garden fron April through October, on the following days:

Tuesday   (9:00 am - 11:00 am)
Thursday (9:00 am - 11
:00 am)
Saturday  (9:00 am - 11
:00 am)

Occasionally there may be a cancellation due to rain. Anyone interested in helping can arrive on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings at 9:00 am.

There are a variety of volunteer-jobs available in the Garden, from planting seeds, to weeding, to harvesting crops.

Volunteers come whenever they can.  No special skills are necessary.  An interest in vegetable gardening and an interest in helping grow produce to feed the needy, are the main requirements for a volunteer.  We look forward to working with you while we continue growing vegetables for the pantries to help those in need locally..
